The expansion of the South London Gallery consists of the refurbishment of the neighbouring derelict house providing additional gallery space, a flat for an artist in residence and a cafe, with new step free access to the existing exhibition space.  The Education Studio is a single storey building topped with a central roof lantern. Themes developed for the main gallery expansion, of exposed structure and materiality create calmness and establish continuity throughout the institution.
